Tokyo Christmas Market

The Tokyo Christmas Market is the city’s largest and most famous festive event, held this year at two venues: Jingu Gaien and Shiba Park. Inspired by traditional German markets, it features a huge Christmas pyramid imported from the village in Seifen, Germany, twinkling lights, and rows of wooden huts selling ornaments, mulled wine, and handmade gifts.

Tips for Visiting Tokyo Christmas Markets

Go after sunset - Most markets shine brightest at night with full illuminations
Arrive early on weekends - Popular ones like Roppongi to Jingu Gaien can get crowded
Bring cash or Suica/PASMO - Many stalls accept cards, but small items may be cash-only.
Dress warm - Winter nights in Tokyo can be chilly.
Look for limited-edition goods - Japanese Christmas merchandise often changes yearly.

Tokyo’s Christmas markets capture the best of both worlds: traditional European festive charm and Japanese attention to detail. Whether you're sipping mulled wine in Shiba Park or shopping for unique ornaments at Yokohama’s Red Brick Warehouse, each market offers a magical experience.

So this holiday season, wrap up warm, grab a cup of cocoa, and explore the Christmas markets in Tokyo 2025.
